About
Living and working between Hubei and Beijing, Chen Feng has spent decades pushing the boundaries of contemporary ink experimentation, where it becomes not merely pigment but passage—a threshold where the past and present converge.
A graduate of Hubei Institute of Fine Arts (1987), Chen Feng's journey guided him into an influential period as a visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin (2000)—an experience that deepened and expanded his artistic perspective.
Since the 1990s, Chen Feng has been exploring and experimenting with ink’s expressive potential, responding to the shifting landscapes of time and culture. His work moves between spaces—from one stage to another, and finally back to the original theater—a recurring motif in both his philosophy and artistry.
"Every wall is a door. Every door lets in light."
Through this perspective, Chen Feng’s art challenges the notion of barriers—not as obstructions, but as thresholds, where the frame expands, turning canvas into revelation and where light unveils what was waiting to be seen.
